Terms of Use

1) Use of Noviro

Noviro provides Mandarin dictionary, vocabulary, learning, review, and related educational tools and services.

Unless otherwise stated, Noviro is provided for your personal, non-exclusive and non-commercial use. You may use the service for your own learning and may reasonably share or discuss Noviro content, provided you do not falsely imply affiliation, endorsement, or partnership with Noviro.

2) Accounts & Features

Some Noviro features may be used without an account. Creating an account enables additional functionality such as preserving and synchronizing eligible vocabulary, learning progress, preferences, recent searches, and other account-related data across supported devices.

You may create or access an account using supported authentication methods, which may include email and password, third-party sign-in providers such as Google or Apple, or other methods made available by Noviro.

Where supported, more than one authentication method may be linked to the same Noviro account. Linking an additional sign-in method does not create a separate Noviro account or separate account data.

Noviro may allow linked authentication methods to be added or removed, subject to technical, security, and provider requirements. A sign-in method may not be removable where doing so would leave the account without a supported method of authentication or where removal is not supported by the relevant authentication system.

The availability and operation of third-party authentication methods may also depend on the relevant provider and may change independently of Noviro.

You are responsible for providing accurate account information where required and for keeping your account credentials, authentication methods, and account-recovery information secure. You must not use another person’s account without authorization.

Noviro will continue to evolve, with features introduced, improved, tested, changed, or retired as the service develops. If paid features or subscriptions are offered, you’ll see exactly what they include and what they cost before deciding whether to purchase.

3) Intellectual Property

Noviro and its original materials — including its software, source code, scripts, technical implementation, interface, design, visual elements, texts, learning materials, curated vocabulary content, databases, database structure, branding, and other original content — are protected, where applicable, by copyright, database rights, trademark and trade-name rights, and other applicable intellectual-property laws.

The Noviro name, logo, branding, and other distinctive identifiers may be protected by applicable trademark, trade-name, and related rights, regardless of whether a particular right has been formally registered.

Except where expressly permitted by Noviro or applicable law, you may not copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, scrape, systematically extract, republish, distribute, sell, sublicense, commercially exploit, create derivative products from, create a competing database or service from, or otherwise misuse Noviro’s protected software, source code, content, databases, design, or other materials.

You may not use automated systems, bots, crawlers, scripts, or similar methods to access, collect, extract, reproduce, or systematically obtain substantial amounts of Noviro content, data, or functionality without prior written permission, except where such activity cannot lawfully be restricted.

Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of Noviro’s software, source code, databases, branding, content, or other intellectual property. Any rights not expressly granted to you remain reserved.

Normal use of Noviro is permitted. This includes using Noviro for personal learning, teaching, classroom instruction, educational demonstrations, commentary, reviews, journalism, blogs, videos, social-media content, academic or professional discussion, and similar legitimate purposes.

You may quote, display, or share reasonable portions of Noviro content where appropriate for those purposes, provided that the use is fair, does not reproduce or substitute for substantial parts of Noviro, does not use Noviro’s protected content, data, or software to create or materially support a competing service or database, and does not falsely imply sponsorship, endorsement, or official affiliation with Noviro.

Some content, software components, visual elements, data, or other materials used by Noviro may be provided or licensed by third parties. Those materials remain subject to the rights and licence terms of their respective owners.

4) User Content & Account Data

You retain any rights you may have in content you provide to Noviro, such as profile information, notes, custom definitions, custom pinyin, or other material you create.

You grant Noviro a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, reproduce, transmit, and otherwise use that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, synchronize, secure, maintain, and provide the Noviro service to you.

You are responsible for content you submit and should not upload or store material that infringes the rights of others or violates applicable law.

5) Acceptable Use

You may not use Noviro to:

• Violate applicable law or the rights of others
• Gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data
• Interfere with, disrupt, overload, or damage the service
• Circumvent security, access, usage, or technical restrictions
• Use automated means to extract substantial amounts of Noviro content or data without permission
• Introduce malicious code or use Noviro for abusive, fraudulent, or harmful activity
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with Noviro

6) Feedback & Suggestions

If you voluntarily provide feedback, ideas, suggestions, or feature requests, you allow Noviro to use them to evaluate, develop, and improve the service without obligation or compensation to you. Please do not send confidential information unless this has been agreed in writing.

7) Privacy & Data Protection

Noviro processes personal data and uses cookies, browser storage, analytics, and related technologies as described in our Privacy Policy.

8) Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account credentials, linked authentication methods, recovery information, and other account-security information, and for activity carried out through your account where reasonably attributable to you.

Noviro offers optional two-step verification using an authenticator app. If you enable two-step verification, an additional verification step may be required after signing in through any supported authentication method, including email/password or a linked third-party sign-in provider.

If recovery codes or other recovery methods are provided, you are responsible for keeping them secure and accessible only to you. You should notify us promptly if you believe your account, authentication method, or recovery information has been compromised.

9) Synchronization, Availability & Data

Noviro may store certain data locally on your device and, when you are signed in, synchronize eligible data with your account across supported devices.

We aim to provide reliable synchronization and preservation of account data, but synchronization may occasionally be delayed, interrupted, or affected by network conditions, device state, software errors, conflicting changes, or other technical circumstances.

Where local and account data differ, Noviro may merge or reconcile data in order to preserve valid user information and maintain account consistency.

You are encouraged to use available export or backup features for data that is particularly important to you.

Noviro may temporarily suspend or limit parts of the service for maintenance, security, technical reasons, or changes to the service.

10) Suspension & Termination

We may restrict or suspend access to Noviro or an account where reasonably necessary to protect the service or other users, respond to security risks, prevent abuse or fraud, comply with legal obligations, or address material violations of these Terms.

Where appropriate and reasonably practicable, we may provide notice or an opportunity to resolve the issue before permanent account termination.

11) Account Deletion

You may delete your Noviro account using the account-management tools made available by Noviro or, where necessary, by contacting us at contact@novirodict.com.

Account deletion is different from signing out. Deleting an account may permanently remove or anonymize account-linked data, subject to applicable legal requirements and the retention rules described in our Privacy Policy.

Data stored locally on your device may remain separately and may need to be removed from that device independently.

12) Disclaimer

Noviro is an educational and language-learning service. Although we aim to provide accurate, useful, and reliable information, dictionary entries, translations, examples, pronunciations, learning materials, and other content may not always be complete, error-free, or appropriate for every context.

Noviro is provided subject to availability. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation or that every feature or piece of content will always remain available or unchanged.

External websites and third-party services linked from or used with Noviro are governed by their respective operators and terms.

13) Liability

Noviro is responsible for providing the service in accordance with applicable law and these Terms.

To the extent permitted by law, liability for minor or ordinary disruptions, delays, or technical issues is limited to circumstances in which Noviro has breached a material contractual obligation or is otherwise legally responsible.

Where liability is legally limited, it is limited to losses that were reasonably foreseeable and typical in connection with the use of the service.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where such a limitation or exclusion would not be permitted under applicable law.

14) Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms and the contractual relationship between you and Noviro are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without depriving consumers of any mandatory protections granted by the law of their country of residence.

If a dispute arises, you may contact us at contact@novirodict.com so that the matter can first be reviewed and, where possible, resolved directly.

The competent courts and place of jurisdiction are determined by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms restricts any mandatory rights concerning jurisdiction or legal remedies.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions will not be affected.

15) Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to Noviro, applicable law, or the way the service operates.

Updated Terms will be published on this page. Where required by law or where changes are material, we may also notify you through Noviro, by email, or through another appropriate communication method, and may request renewed acceptance where necessary.
