Privacy Policy
TL;DR (Too Long; Didn’t Read)
- We only collect and process data needed to provide, secure, and improve Noviro.
- If you create an account, your profile, saved vocabulary, learning progress, preferences, and recent searches can be stored and synced across devices.
- Noviro can still use local browser storage to keep the experience fast and reliable.
- We do not sell or rent your personal data.
- You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of your personal data and can delete your Noviro account.
1) Who We Are
Noviro is operated by Sviatoslav Fut, based in Berlin, Germany,
and is responsible for the processing of personal data described in this
Privacy Policy.
Business address: Urbanstraße 71, 10967 Berlin.
For legal details, see our Impressum.
Privacy-related questions and requests can be sent to contact@novirodict.com.
2) What Data We Collect
The data we process depends on how you use Noviro and whether you create an account.
Account and profile data
If you create a Noviro account, we may process:
- Your email address
- Your editable display name
- An optional profile picture
- Your Noviro account identifier
- Your authentication methods, such as email/password or linked third-party sign-in providers such as Google or Apple
- Provider-specific identifiers and information needed to create, authenticate, link, or unlink sign-in methods
- Account creation, login, session, security, and authentication-related information
- Two-step verification information where you enable it, such as enrollment and verification status, authenticator-factor information, and security or recovery information needed to operate the feature
If you use a third-party sign-in provider, such as Google or Apple, Noviro may receive information made available through the authentication process and needed to create, identify, authenticate, or link your Noviro account. Depending on the provider and your choices, this may include your email address, name, profile image, and a provider-specific account identifier. Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your personal email address.
If you link more than one sign-in method to the same Noviro account, information associated with those authentication methods may be connected to the same Noviro account so that they provide access to the same account and account-linked data.
Saved vocabulary and learning data
If you use My Words or other learning features, we may process data associated with your Noviro account, including:
- Vocabulary you save, add, or import into My Words
- Custom definitions, pinyin, notes, and other edits you make
- Learning and review progress
- Your learning preferences and settings
Recent searches
Recent search history may be stored locally and, when you are signed in, synchronized with your Noviro account so it can be available across devices.
Synchronization and technical account data
To synchronize your account across devices, we may process:
- Synchronization timestamps and status
- Data-change and deletion information needed to resolve synchronization safely
- Technical identifiers required to distinguish records and devices or sessions
- Error and retry information related to synchronization
If you already used Noviro without an account and later sign in or create an account, locally stored vocabulary, learning data, preferences, and recent searches may be merged with and uploaded to your account so that your existing data is not lost.
Website usage, technical and analytics data
When you use Noviro, we and our service providers may process:
- IP address, browser, device, and other technical information generated when you access or use Noviro
- Pages visited and time spent
- Interaction data such as clicks, searches, navigation, and feature usage
- Session replay data where enabled
- Diagnostic, error, performance, and security-related information
Technical information may be processed for purposes such as authentication, security, fraud and abuse prevention, rate limiting, diagnostics, and service operation.
Analytics data is used to understand how Noviro is used and to improve its features and performance. Where appropriate, analytics data is anonymized or pseudonymized.
Account information and data you choose to synchronize with your Noviro account are associated with your account so that account and synchronization features can be provided.
Feedback and communications
When you submit feedback or contact us, we may process:
- The message you submit
- Your email address or other contact information you provide
- Device and browser information where relevant
- The timestamp and context of your submission
Please avoid including sensitive or unnecessary personal information.
We do not intentionally request special-category personal data such as health information, political opinions, religious beliefs, or biometric data.

We use personal data where necessary to:
- Create, authenticate, maintain, and secure Noviro accounts

We do not sell or rent your personal data.
4) Legal Basis for Processing
Depending on the processing activity, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract or steps taken at your request: where processing is necessary to create and operate your Noviro account, authenticate you, synchronize your data, provide learning features, and deliver functionality you request.
- Legitimate interests: where necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, develop, and improve Noviro, prevent abuse, and understand how the service is used, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
- Consent: where applicable, for optional cookies, analytics technologies, or other processing for which consent is legally required. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.
- Legal obligations: where processing is necessary to comply with applicable laws or lawful requests.
5) Cookies, Local Storage & Tracking Tools
Noviro uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies to provide core functionality, maintain account sessions, remember application state, preserve local learning data, and support reliable synchronization.
Some data may be stored locally on your device even when you are not signed in. If you later sign in, eligible local data may be merged with your Noviro account so that your existing vocabulary, learning progress, preferences, and recent searches are not lost.
We also use analytics and product-improvement tools to:
- Understand how Noviro is used
- Measure feature usage and performance
- Identify technical issues and improve reliability
- Improve the website, learning tools, and overall user experience
We currently use:
- Google Analytics
- PostHog for product analytics and, where enabled, session recording
PostHog helps us understand how users interact with Noviro, including clicks, navigation patterns, feature usage, and other product interactions.
Where session recording is enabled, we configure it to reduce the collection of personal information, including masking or suppressing input fields and other sensitive interface elements where appropriate.
Analytics and tracking technologies are used in accordance with applicable legal requirements. Where consent is required, these technologies are only activated after you provide the required consent.
You can manage your cookie and tracking preferences through Noviro’s consent settings where available, and you can also control cookies and site data through your browser settings.
We may update this section if the technologies or service providers used by Noviro change.
6) Data Storage & Security
Noviro uses both local device storage and server-side infrastructure. Information such as saved vocabulary, recent searches, learning progress, preferences, and other eligible account data may be stored locally in your browser using local browser storage technologies.
If you create a Noviro account, eligible data may also be stored on Noviro’s backend infrastructure and synchronized across devices.
Noviro’s primary backend data is hosted in the European Union, in Ireland. We use third-party infrastructure providers for services such as account authentication, database storage, synchronization, and, where applicable, storage of profile images.
Some service providers involved in authentication, analytics, security, or other supporting functions may process certain information in other jurisdictions as described in the sections on service providers and international data transfers below.
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, accidental loss, or destruction.
Noviro offers optional two-step verification using an authenticator app. When enabled, an additional verification step may be required after a supported sign-in method, including email/password or a linked third-party sign-in provider. Authentication and security information needed to operate two-step verification may be processed to verify sign-ins, protect accounts, and support account recovery.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and should contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
7) Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on applicable law, including the GDPR, you may have the right to:
- Request access to personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Request restriction of processing
- Object to certain processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Request your data in a portable format where applicable
- Lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority
Noviro also provides account-management functionality, including the ability to delete your account. Account deletion may remove or anonymize account-linked data, subject to data we must retain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
8) Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as required by applicable law.
Account data and synchronized learning data are generally retained while your Noviro account remains active so that we can provide account and synchronization functionality.
If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize account-linked personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required or permitted for legal obligations, security, fraud prevention, establishment or defense of legal claims, backup integrity, or similar legitimate purposes.
Local data stored on your own device may remain after account deletion or sign-out unless it is separately removed from that device, your browser storage is cleared, or Noviro provides an option to clear it.
Feedback and communications may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for support, quality, security, and reference purposes.
9) Children’s Privacy
Noviro is not intended for children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.
If we become aware that personal data has been collected from a child under 16 in circumstances where the required consent or authorization was not obtained, we will take appropriate steps to delete that information.
If you believe that a child under 16 has provided personal data to Noviro, please contact us at contact@novirodict.com.
10) Service Providers & Third Parties
We use third-party service providers where necessary to operate, secure, analyze, and improve Noviro. Depending on the features you use, these may include:
- Backend and infrastructure providers used for account authentication, account-security features, database services, synchronization, and, where applicable, file storage.
- Google — Google account authentication and Google Analytics.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple authentication.
- PostHog — product analytics and, where enabled, session recording.
These providers may process personal data in connection with the services they provide, subject to applicable contractual, privacy, and data-protection requirements.
11) International Data Transfers
Noviro’s primary backend data is hosted in the European Union, in Ireland. Some third-party service providers used by Noviro may nevertheless be established in, or process personal data in, countries outside the European Economic Area.
Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we take appropriate steps to ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data-protection law and are protected by legally recognized safeguards where required.
We aim to use service providers and transfer mechanisms that provide an appropriate level of protection for personal data in accordance with applicable European data-protection requirements.
12) Account Deletion
You may delete your Noviro account through your account settings or contact us at contact@novirodict.com.
Deleting your account is different from signing out. Signing out ends your authenticated session but does not delete your account or the data associated with it on Noviro’s server-side systems.
When you delete your account, account-linked personal data will be deleted or anonymized from Noviro’s active systems within a reasonable period, subject to any information that we are permitted or required to retain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, backup, or similar legitimate purposes.
Data stored locally on your device may remain after account deletion and may need to be removed separately, for example by clearing Noviro’s local site data or using a relevant removal option where available.
13) Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the website, services, or legal requirements.
Any changes will be reflected on this page.
If any part of this policy is found invalid, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
